About AAFP Insurance Services
Established in 1951, AAFP Insurance Services is dedicated to serving the AAFP by providing financial solutions that help our members create, preserve and improve their financial health. Appropriately registered and licensed in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, AAFP Insurance Services is a wholly owned subsidiary of the AAFP Foundation and we are solely responsible to you — the Academy and its 127,600 members nationwide.
What We Do
Our dedicated licensed staff members are here to provide you with the service you need and answer any questions regarding your financial health. We’re with you every step of the way, helping you explore your options so you can decide which insurance coverage best fits your needs.
We aren’t a typical insurance provider. We answer to the Academy, not to an insurance company.
As a broker, our group buying power allows us to add value to the insurance products we offer through special pricing, benefits, features and services. We design and administer a select group of insurance products to provide unique protection for family physicians who are members of the Academy.
These elements combine to differentiate AAFP products from those available to the general public and from those offered by other medical associations. We make a strong effort to provide more personal and efficient service than one might find from other insurance providers.

Meet Our Team
AAFP Insurance Services, Inc. is not your typical insurance provider and that starts with the people at the top.
Richard L. Marsh – President and Treasurer

Rick Marsh, a Certified Public Accountant, handles the balance sheets and income statements for AAFP Insurance Services. A graduate of Northwest Missouri State University, with a degree in accounting, Rick’s primary responsibility since joining Insurance Services in 1989 is to make sure the numbers come out right.
He is the first to admit, however, that his job is about much more than numbers. “What I do directly impacts members,” he says, referring to his role in helping to make sure that new insurance policies provide rates and terms that are attractive for members, while also being financially sustainable for the organization.
